Kindergarten Music

Using songs, singing games, folk dances,interactive stories,instrument play and more, students will learn basic Music skills such as matching pitch, steady beat, high/low,
long/short, phrases,and musical timing. These activities are also important in helping your child continue to develop their social/emotional skills, inhibitory control, self expression, etc.
And the most important part-we have fun!!!!!

1st Grade Music

Using the same kinds of activities, we will scaffold on what we learned in Kindergarten, adding simple rhythm reading, improvisation and pitched mallet instruments.

2nd Grade Music

Using the same kinds of activities, we will continue to scaffold, adding more rhythm reading patterns, more complicated folk dances and singing games.

3rd Grade Music

Students will be learning to play the recorder,and read music. We will also be learning singing games and folk dances from all around the world.

CHS Area Choral Festival March 5, 2024/CHS 7-8 p.m.

- 3rd-5th grade Chorus only.

CHS Area String Festival March 13, 2024 (5th grade Strings only)

- Rehearsal 3/13 8-10 a.m at CHS
- Concert 3/13 7-8 p.m. at CHS

CHS Area Band Festival March 20, 2024 (5th grade Band only)

- Rehearsal 3/20 8-10 a.m. at CHS;
- Concert 3/20 7-8 p.m. at CHS

Choral Concert, April 18, 2024 / MPR

- 6:00pm-8:00pm

Spring Recorder Concert-May 10, 2024/ MPR

- Recorders 8:15-8:45 a.m.

Band/Strings-Concert May 17, 2024

- 8:15-9:00

Chorus

1st and 2nd Grade Chorus meets every Wednesday from 12:50 to 1:30.

Students will be walked to front of school for pick up at 1:30pm. Please email tknight@srvusd.net if you student will be missing class. There is no supervision after 1:30 so it is imperative that you pick up your student on time. Check school calendar on front of website if you are unsure whether your student has chorus on any given day.

3rd through 5th grade chorus meets every Thursday after school from 2:30 to 3:15.
